Gain a new perspective from our off-grid wilderness location -  where less is more.

Iron Mountain Wilderness Cabins is a completely off-grid facility. You may notice that there no power lines or phone lines at you climb up the mountain. There is cell phone service available at our location - service could vary depending on your carrier/provider.

Our cabins are outfitted for a good night's sleep - each has a comfy, pillow-top, queen sized bed with two pillows and two single bunk beds with a pillow each. Due to water and electricity limits of our off-grid location, linens and bedding are not provided. Please bring your favourite bedding or sleeping bags. The cabins are heated and also include a food prep table and dining table. Each cabin has a covered porch with a pro series Weber Genesis II BBQ grill with slide burner and cooking light and deck chairs for cooking and relaxing. Each site has an outdoor fire pit and picnic table. The cabins have a 'BioLite' solar lighting and device charging station. The lights and charging capacity is reliant on available solar energy production, so we suggest that you bring a lantern too and charge your phone up in your vehicle during travel on cloudy days. Our camping cabins are not serviced with electricity or water.

It is a short walk from your cabin to the fully services accessible washrooms and showers.

Our main lodge is fully serviced, thanks to our solar system and backup generator. The lodge contains a beautiful lounge with a washing station, wood stove, bar and social space overlooking beautiful southern views of Whycocomagh Bay and Denys Basin. We are proud to be Nova Scotia's first off-grid licensed resort. We offer four hand-picked Nova Scotia craft beer on tap and a tasty selection of fine spirits. Scotch on the mountain, anyone?

Our facility is perfect for small workshops, corporate retreats, and unique events. You may book the whole facility for these purposes. Please see our facility rentals page for more details about what we can offer for your event. We can arrange for catering and refreshments, a projector and screen, white boards and more.

When you rent a cabin at Iron Mountain Wilderness Cabins, your quiet peaceful enjoyment of your time here is our main priority. For this reason making excessive noise at the cabin sites will not be tolerated.

Our location is perfect for artists, photographers, writers and outdoor enthusiasts of all descriptions. It is a perfect place to unplug from modern hustle of urban life to reconnect to nature and get grounded. We hope that you will benefit from spending time in hardwood mountain forests, under the open sky in the quiet wilderness surrounding us.
