Camp Out In an Off-Grid Cabin in the Woods on Cape Breton Island
Our off-grid camping cabins are nestled into the woods on the top of an ancient mountain in the heart of Cape Breton Island. Located on the longest recreational trail in the world, The Great Trail and SANS Cape Clear 104 snowmobile trail, we are the perfect home base to explore the island's back country. Each of our five wilderness camping cabins is outfitted for comfort and simplicity. Each is well insulated and heated with a pillow top queen bed of the same quality as your favourite hotel. The cabins also have one set of bunks with twin beds, a stainless steel food prep table, dining table with four chairs, covered porch with two patio seats and a beautiful Weber Genesis II BBQ with side burner and cooking light. Our fully serviced main lodge is located nearby for your comfort and convenience with full service washrooms and showers. The adjacent lodge completes our facility with our reception, wood stove, lounge and dishwashing station.
Bring your favourite camp gear with you and enjoy the great out doors for a relaxing and rejuvenating night on the mountain and in the morning you’ll be rested and ready to explore the surrounding wilderness. Two trails cross on our 200 acre property. We are located near two protected wilderness areas on the Keppoch Plateau at 260m elevation, in the southern Cape Breton Highlands, only 5km off the TransCanada Highway 105 in Whycocomagh. If you love the outdoors, you will feel right at home at our unique eco-friendly four season accommodations. If you would like to be notified of our opening date, please leave us your address below, we are closing in on our opening day. We'll also let you know about special events and packages when they become available.
We look forward to having you stay with us at Iron Mountain Wilderness Cabins.
